‘I’m getting chills’: Camila Cabello’s Havana gets Carnatic music treatment The interesting fusion was created by Instagram-famous musician Hrishi.

Camila Cabello’s Havana is arguably one of the most popular pop songs that have come out in recent years. Many artists have given their own twist to this 2018 hit. Most recently US-based singer and songwriter Hrishi posted a fusion mix cover of the song that seamlessly incorporated Carnatic music into the R&B beats of Havana.

While sharing this now-viral cover on Instagram, Hrishi wrote, “can’t believe @camila_cabello shared this 👀👀”. This video has so far gathered over two million views and 63,000 likes.

Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “The regrets I have for not continuing learning indian music and switching to western 😭 the way y’all handle your vocals is 😳”. Another person said, “I am obsessed with this….I literally heard it 20+ times now…will continue probably until I go to sleep now 😂”.

In March 2020, when the world was reeling from the first Covid-19 induced lockdown, singer and composer Rashmi Shaarvi tweaked the lyrics of Havana and made a song that informed people about coronavirus and the preventive measures one should take against it.

Other than getting hundreds of likes, this cover also gained the praise of business tycoon Anand Mahindra who retweeted it and wrote, “There seems to be an unexpected dividend from Covid 19: Creativity is bubbling up all over and social isolation is aiding that process!”
